19-Month-Old Boy Kidnapped from Bhubaneswar Temple Rescued in Balasore | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: A 19-month-old boy who was kidnapped near Ram Temple in Bhubaneswar on Sunday was rescued from the house of a man in Balasore.
The man’s own child has kidney ailments, raising questions about the motive behind the kidnapping.
Police personnel are currently questioning the suspect to determine the exact reason for the abduction, with more clarity expected to emerge after the investigation.
“The kid is safe. The motive of the abduction is being determined,” a senior police officer said.
The rescued child’s mother, Jayanti Mallick, who seeks alms near Ram Temple, lodged a complaint at Kharavel Nagar police station. She alleged that while sleeping outside the shrine with her daughter, aged 4, and son, an unidentified man approached them around 3 am on Sunday night and offered juice to her children.
Due to her visual impairment, she relied on the stranger’s words when he expressed his fondness for children and claimed to have brought refreshments and sweets. Shortly afterwards, she heard her son crying.
“My daughter could not tell me anything when I asked her the reason for my son’s cry. The man did not respond either. Despite my calls for assistance, no one was present to help me during those late hours. I am thankful to the cops for rescuing my kid,” Mallick said.
