Jimmy Butler left for the Golden State Warriors after he made it impossible for the Miami Heat team to retain him. With multiple suspensions and quick jabs at one another, he finally left the Heat in February, and hasn’t felt bad for how things turned out at the end. He is doing quite well with the Warriors, and his rapport with GSW star Stephen Curry has been pretty amazing. But with him and the Warriors coming to Miami for a game for the first time since he left, things were bound to turn heads, including his former teammates.

Jimmy Butler returns to Miami alongside his Golden State Warrior teammates

The Golden State Warriors were recently at the Kaseya Center for a game against the Miami Heat. This was the first time that Jimmy Butler was back in the arena since he left during the February transfer window. And the atmosphere spoke for itself when he was back in that court. The Warriors were without Steph Curry, who did not play because of a pelvic bruise. And that cost the team, who lost the game to the Heats, 112-86.
Tyler Herro, the team’s shooting guard, and their center, Bam Adebayo, both of whom previously played for the Kentucky Wildcats, had an amazing game. Adebayo scored 27 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 9-of-18 shooting, and 2-of-3 3PT, while Herro made 20 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 7-of-10 shooting, 4-of-4 3PT. Unfortunately, Butler did not get to show off in front of his old teammates and the fans on his first return.

No love lost between Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro

Tyler Herro was asked if he got an opportunity to talk to Butler on his return, before or after the game. But the Heat star was pretty straight with his refusal, as his response was a series of “No.” As for Butler, when asked about what it was like to be back, he said:
“Yeah, like I always say, I got a lot of love for the city, for the fan base here. The video was nice. I won’t say there were a lot of emotions, though. I think I went into this thing level-headed. We wanted to win the game.”
He also addressed the booing he received from the fans, but said it didn’t bother him.
“That don’t bother me, no. It’s going to happen in plenty of places. I guess it’s going to happen here now, too. Get used to it.”
The ex Heat star was welcomed back with a tribute video that was played, to which his response wasn’t too emotional, as he said:
“I mean, it takes me back to some good times when I was wearing a Miami Heat jersey. I’m very appreciative of those times to help me become the player that I am in this league, the individual that I am in this league, the teammate, the leader, all of those things. I don’t think I could be who I am today without my opportunity here, I’ll tell you that.”
The Golden State Warriors will be facing the Pelicans next Friday, on March 28. While the Heat will have their next game against the Hawks later tonight.
